Field Report, Summer 2025
Savannah House
It’s always exciting to break ground on a new house- this one is a dogtrot plan (What is a dogtrot?), and its based on our “Magnolia” close-to-custom design. The Magnolia was a great starting point for this client, but they had a lot of modifications to the design. It is going to be an amazing house in a few months- right now it just looks like some holes in the ground! I’ll show the watercolors from schematic design too- they are a little prettier to look at! We have loved working with these clients and we are thrilled to continue this relationship through construction. This is the first house that we are aiming for a Fortified Gold certification, which requires significant documentation during construction to meet the rigorous requirements. Tom, one of our architects, is a certified Fortified Home Professional and will be leading the Construction Administration phase of this house to ensure that all the requirements and documentation are fulfilled so that the homeowner gains both the peace of mind from knowing their house is built to withstand high winds and harsh conditions, as well as the potentially significant savings in homeowner’s insurance.
Riverfront Dogtrot Reno
This house is just outside of Beaufort and we designed it back in the early 2000’s- we love revisiting houses. This one is particularly fun! Here is a link to the portfolio page. Powell Brothers Construction is getting close to finishing up, with interior trim work, tile installation, cabinet installation and painting all progressing.
