February Construction Update
It’s February in the Lowcountry, which means it can be 37 degrees or 73 degrees, like today! We are loving watching our projects being built. First up is the Cane Island house, which is going to be amazing! This week, they are working on the interior stairs and they just finished sanding the wood floors. Here’s a couple photos:
The Brays Island renovation is 99% done, and wow, looks great! Next time we will share professional photography of this stunning house, as well as the before pictures.
We have two of our Camellia plan houses being built in Beaufort right now! Its fun to see them side-by side
The first is in Islands of Beaufort:
The other Camellia is in the Grays Hill area of Northern Beaufort County, on the Marshes of McCalley Creek
These three projects are just getting started. A new house on Brays Island, the great porch on St. Helena Island and a renovation project in Rose Hill.

Brays Island- Hutto Cabin
Construction has begun on the cabin on Brays Island, look back to this post to see the preliminary design of this house.

The Camellia, in Islands of Beaufort
This is our Camellia plan (see more here), that has been customized for clients in Islands of Beaufort.

Spring Island
The contractors are almost finished on this Spring Island renovation. We also helped with the interiors on this house. We added some new pieces while keeping many of the existing. There is a whole new furniture plan that focuses on how the clients used the space.

Spring Island
This house (and its owners) are special to us. While its not uncommon for us to revisit a Frederick + Frederick house to renovate or add-on, we don’t typically get the opportunity for so many projects at the same house. This house was built around 2000, then we built the guitar & quilting studio and a courtyard for new owners (photos of that project are here). We won an honor award from AIASC for this phase of the project.
Then we did a bathroom renovation and modified the gable end in the front of the house. Now we are renovating the kitchen, pantry and downstairs bedroom. Demo is complete and framing is underway!
Cane Island
Siding is mostly complete, decking and window trim are being installed. The house on Cane Island is looking great!
Brays Island
This big renovation project is nearing completion. It is a really unique project and we can’t wait to see the final product soon!
March Construction
Cane Island
The house on Cane Island is looking great. The house is dried in and work continues on exterior trim, roof installation and rough ins for HVAC and plumbing.
Brays Island Renovation
St Helena Island Dogtrot Cottage
The owners have moved in to this lovely little house. The dogtrot is outdoor living space which separates the kitchen/living areas from the bedroom.
Fripp Island
This Fripp Island House is very nearly complete, which just punch list items remaining, as well as landscaping. Until the plants are installed, the frog will have to hang on the deck. 😉
Many of the projects that we have shown recently in our under construction posts are nearing completion, but not to worry; We have exciting projects on the boards and beginning construction!
September Construction
Cane Island

Fripp Island
This beach house is getting really close to completion. How great do those sleek sunpower pv panels look?! These owners are so excited about their new house, which is our favorite thing ever!
Port Royal, Union Church
The renovation of historic Union Church is moving right along. The drywall is hung and the windows have been uncovered, it is a beautiful space!
Butterfly Dogtrot
I am loving this dogtrot cottage with butterfly roofs! The first design for these clients was this “Lowcountry Cottage” but I think what the design morphed into will be even cooler than the preliminary drawings.

Spring Island
Framing is progressing nicely at the Spring Island house. Spring Island is one of our favorite communities in Beaufort County. We love their dedication to preserving the natural beauty of the island!
Port Royal Plantation
It's always fun to see the view that our clients will enjoy from the elevated height. Quite a view from this house!
Factory Creek
Framing on the garage for this project is nearly complete, and beginning for the main house.
Fripp Island
This renovation project is almost finished. We started construction over a year ago by raising the house 5 ' to get it out of the flood plain. Here is the post of when we raised it.
Under Construction
We have several projects in beginning stages of construction.
Here is the first in a series of videos that will will be publishing to show the construction process of a home on Dataw Island. We are excited to get some overhead shots of the site with Benjie's new drone!
Framing has begun at our project in Berkeley Hall. December is a beautiful time for construction in South Carolina!
Our project in Love Cove Club is coming along nicely. Currently, the contractors are working on the roofing and masonry.
