The Taylor's house is located on a former plantation that was redeveloped as a retreat to preserve and protect its natural beauty. The 325 circular lots are sprinkled throughout the 5000-acre plantation. The retreat atmosphere was created in this retirement home with the stained cypress interiors, exposed timber pilings and decks. Flared bedroom wings give the central living area complete exposure to the wooded site and rice pond to the East. The driven pile foundation allows the building to be placed lightly on the land and close to the trees without damaging their roots.
