The Guida’s site is a low oyster shell covered site with water views to south and west. There are beautiful live oaks lining the tidal marches. The approach is via a long winding oyster shell drive and the modeled natural plaster foundation seems to grow out of the shell-strewn land. The earth toned shingles and hip roofs blend with the landscape composed of existing and native plant materials.
The foyer is a square knuckle paneled in cypress that links the master bedroom on the south with the living areas to the west. A large curving terrace transitions back to the grade from the elevated interior spaces. The main living area is larger square with one quarter a screened outdoor living space with a two sided plaster fireplace separating the inside living from the outside living. The form and detail give the house a classical feel while the open plan, large windows and many outdoor living spaces connect the Guidas to the views, prevailing breezes, and the beautiful lowcountry land
