Temple of Athena Nike

The Erechtheion was built between 421 BC and 406 BC. The Caryatids on the building are replacements with 5 of the originals in the New Acropolis Museum down the hill. The remaining Caryatid was removed by Lord Elgin and can be found in the British Museum. The Caryatids have thick braids that reinforce their necks to support the roof loads.
